Re: 'New schools sought for Scarborough,' News, Oct. 31

I think that students should all have a local elementary school in their community. Students shouldn't have to wake up an hour before their peers wake up just to go to school. Five hundred students don't have a local school in the Meadowvale-Sheppard area; there should be a school in every community, isn't that where our taxes go? There are many schools that want to expand and get rid of the portables using the money that is desperately needed for a new school.

I think schools that want to expand can wait. When a new school is built, students will attend that school and take pressure off of other schools. The family of the child that needs to take a bus just to get to school will also have to pay for their ticket which can be used for other things.

Students who take the bus to school have better things to do. They should be able to go home and finish their homework and play, not ride on a bus for two hours and by the time they finish their homework it's dinner time.

No matter what, there should be a school in every community. Money should be given to the Toronto District School Board so that a school in the Meadowvale-Sheppard area can be built.
